A SHORT STORY ABOUT OUR BUSINESS
EDSCO began in 1977 as a small family run Seed Cleaning business in the Central Wheatbelt town of Kellerberrin, Western Australia.
The business humbly commenced in the old Flour Mill, and remained in operation before beginning from the 'ground up'. The original partners are still very hands on and remain instrumental in EDSCO's continual planning and development and have been for 44 years.
The old Flour Mill was revamped to accommodate local growers and we started out processing 8 Tonne trucks; now 44 years on, we have the knowledge and expertise to process Road Trains with the capacity for 60 Tonne or more.
We have two sheds in operation, the original 'Big Shed' which processes large seed i.e. Wheat, Barley and Oats and the 'Small Shed' which processes Pasture Seed, Basic Seed, Pedigree Seed, Canola and all small specific varieties.
The 'Big Shed' has a processing capacity of 20-25 tonne an hour for wheat for a full grade and 12 tonne an hour for a fast clean of Canola. We have a 40 tonne unloading pit which enables us to get the next appointment in and ready to go after that area has been cleaned down and isolated. The annual average processing quantities can be anywhere between 10,000 - 15,000 tonne.
In 1987 EDSCO expanded by building our small seeds processing plant - the 'Small Shed'. A large variety of seeds are cleaned in the Small Shed - canola, sub clovers, serradellas and medics. Annual processing quantities can range from 700 - 1,000 tonne and has a processing capacity of 1-2.5 tonne per hour for sub clovers and 1-2 tonne per hour for canola.
At EDSCO we are focused on providing Seed Cleaning services to the highest levels.
We pride ourselves on our integrity to ensure complete customer satisfaction and repeat business.
We are an Accredited Seed Works by the Department of Agriculture and Food WA and have accredited Seed Samplers on hand at all times. Additionally, we are AQIS accredited to secure Seed and Grain as it arrives from the Eastern Seaboard.
We also have a registered weighbridge.
We hold affiliations with most Plant Breeders which allows us to offer a broad spectrum of seed varieties to our many valued clients.
EDSCO are also members of the ASF (Australian Seed Federation) and we operate and adhere to the code of practice under the ISF (International Seed Federation.) EDSCO Production Crops are organised and grown in tandem with the Seed Group business partners. In 2021 we have 11 production growers, consisting of 21 new and recent varieties for both cereal and pulse crops.
